Site Navigation & Menus on Pages (Page Navigation)

Menu settings include Site Navigation - the menus that appear along the top of the website and in the footer - and Menus on Pages - formerly "Page Navigation" - which appear on the right side of pages in desktop view and in a dropdown at the top of the page in mobile view. These two menu styles do not necessarily need to match.

Site Navigation can be set and edited from within the page editor or from the Menus section of the website editor.

Menus on Pages are edited within the Menus section and will display which menus a page is shown on in the page editor.

Managing Site Navigation

Choose Site Navigation tab - this is the default selection when you go to the Menu editor. From here, you can add, find, edit, rearrange, and delete menu items. As a new feature, deleted menus and menu items can now be restored.

Click the green NEW button to add a new item.

  • NAME - Give your menu or menu item a name.
  • MENU LEVEL
    • Level 1 is a parent menu that will appear across the top bar of your website*.
    • Level 2 is a child menu which you will then assign to a Level 1 parent menu in the next step. You can add as many child menus to each menu as you need.

    • Page - Use the SELECT PAGE button to browse or search for a page.
    • Calendar - Choose an Event Category.
    • Resource - Use the SELECT RESOURCE button to browse or search for an existing resource. You can also add a new resource in this box using the white + button.
    • External URL - Enter full URL, i.e. "https://www.tentaroo.com/training".
    • No Link - this is a placeholder item.
  • OPEN IN:
    • Choose "Same Window" to keep users on your site. Best for pages and calendars.
    • Choose "New Window" to keep your site active on the original tab and show the linked information in a separate tab. Best for resources and external URLs.

*The number of Site Navigation parent menu items you can have is limited only by the horizontal space on the desktop version of the website. If your menus exceed the width, they will wrap and make it difficult to use the dropdown menus. Shorten menu titles or combine menu items to keep the Site Navigation bar displaying correctly.

Editing a Menu

Expand a parent menu to view child menus by clicking the > icon on the left of the menu card.

Click on a menu card or use the three dot menu on the right of the card to edit the item. Adjust your settings and click Save Changes at the bottom.

Change the order of your menus and menu items by dragging and dropping or using the up/down arrows on the right (desktop only) or by using the three dot menu and clicking/tapping Move Up or Move Down (desktop or mobile).

To delete a menu, click on the three dot menu on the right and select Delete or use the Delete feature of the Menu Editor.

Menu items are now searchable. Use the search bar at the top of the menu section to look for an item. Show Deleted items to find a deleted menu and click RESTORE to reactivate the menu item.
